Privacy Policy
Memoriee is built so your data stays with you. This policy explains what little information the app handles and how it is treated.
What we store on your device
All of your content and activity lives in your browser’s IndexedDB, inside the database memoriee-v0. This includes:
- the texts you create for memorisation
- your practice history (attempts, scores, session dates)
- your preferences (theme, font, reading scale)
- interrupted sessions that let you resume where you left off
- any phrases you have flagged as tricky
This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to any server, stored in the cloud, or accessible to us or anyone else.
What we don’t collect
Memoriee does not have user accounts or login. Therefore:
- we do not ask for your name, email address, or any personal information
- we do not use cookies for tracking
- we do not serve advertisements
- we do not include third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Hotjar, etc.)
- we do not read, store, or transmit your texts or practice data
Anonymous usage statistics
The app sends a small, anonymous, cookieless beacon to a server so we can estimate how many people are using Memoriee. The beacon fires at four moments:
- when the app loads
- when a text is created
- when a practice method is started
- when a practice session is completed
Each ping contains an event name and a daily-rotating hash. The hash changes every day, so the same person cannot be tracked across days or identified. No text content, personal information, or persistent identifier is included. You cannot opt out of this beacon because there is no tracking to opt out of. It is a simple aggregate counter with no personal data attached.
Your control
Because nothing personal is stored on a server, there is nothing to request, download, or delete from us. You already hold all of your data on your device. You can:
- erase all data at any time from the app’s settings (“Erase all data”)
- clear your browser’s storage (site data) to remove everything
- export a backup file from settings to keep a copy outside your browser
Children
Memoriee is aimed at high-school students. It collects no personal data, requires no account, and stores everything locally. Younger users should make sure a parent or guardian is aware they are using the app. Under applicable privacy laws, this local-first design means there is no server-side personal data to give notice about or obtain consent for. Even so, we encourage families to talk about any online tool together.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be described here. Because we hold no personal data, policy changes cannot affect data we already hold, because there is none.
